Ian brings over 30 years of experience in emergency management, reconciliation, and leadership, supported by a Master’s degree in Disaster and Emergency Management from Royal Roads University. He serves as Director of Indigenous Relations with the BC Ministry of Agriculture and has stepped back from teaching at NAIT to focus on supporting the CSS facilitator network.
As Lead Facilitator, Ian supports the facilitator community and the Naqsmist team through relational leadership, emotional safety, and applied practice across government and academic contexts. His work centres on strengthening facilitation practice, mentorship, and the thoughtful application of the CSS framework.
Ian is a citizen of the Carcross Tagish First Nation, one of the inland Tlingit Nations in the southern Yukon. He currently lives as a guest in the W̱SÁNEĆ territories on southern Vancouver Island with his wife and their small, feisty dog.
